Covington acquires VehiCare

GREENSBORO, NC (June 3, 2010) –

Covington Power Services, a distributor for Detroit Diesel and Allison Transmissions, headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, has announced the acquisition of the VehiCare service location in Nashville, Tennessee, effective June 3, 2010.  VehiCare will be operated as a distinct business unit within the Covington organization.  In the Nashville metro area, VehiCare will continue to operate from its current location on South Dickerson Road in Goodlettsville, TN.  Covington Power Services already provides significant medium and heavy duty truck service for the greater Nashville market from operations located at Haywood Lane near the Nashville International Airport.  Covington plans to maintain all existing operational aspects of the VehiCare® business, including the VehiCare brand name.

VehiCare was founded in 1988 with a simple concept; offer “on-site”, mobile preventive maintenance services, eliminating the need for vehicles to be shuttled to a fixed-bay shop for routine maintenance.  The concept quickly evolved to encompass the medium and heavy duty commercial trucking and off-road equipment markets.  VehiCare grew through the 1990’s to include shop operations, some heavy repair and local breakdown services.

Covington Power Services is a market-leading distributorship, authorized by Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmissions and MTU-Detroit Diesel; Covington is also a master warehouse for Muncie Power Products.  Covington provides diesel engine solutions, branded by Detroit Diesel, Mercedes Benz and MTU, from 30 to 10,000 horsepower, along with MTU – Onsite Energy generators from 20 to 3,250 kW, Allison transmissions, truck parts for the entire vehicle, Red Dot air conditioning, Webasto heating and cooling products, EMP, Reviva remanufactured engines and Muncie Power Products PTO’s.  With nine branches throughout North Carolina, Tennessee, and North Georgia, Covington offers product, parts and service support 24 hours a day to customers in the On-Highway Transportation, Construction, Industrial, Marine and Power Generation markets.  Covington has been serving a diversified customer base since 1965 and has grown to become one of the larger distributorships for the products represented.
